A multicultural romance Thursday teaser

“Hey mum, sorry about that. I was in the hospital.”

“What the hell is going on?” pressed Carla.

Jessie brought her mum up to date, and at the finish, Carla came to the same conclusion, “It was Chandon, Jess. I know I am right.”

Jessie continued, “Ajay is going to find out one way or the other. But we don’t know for sure until we have evidence or a confession. And Chandon is not going to admit to Liam’s attack if he did do it.”

“You’re right, of course. Just be careful, Jess. I don’t trust Chandon one iota. I never believed he had changed. It was just a matter of time before his true self emerged again.”

“I actually did think he had changed, mum. Especially after his son was born. But this attack, as far as I am concerned, leads right back to the old Chandon. I think he may have fooled us all. For a while, after he saved Ajay’s life in India, I truly believed he was a changed man. This could change everything.”

“Look, Jess, you and Ajay need to be very aware of Chandon right now. We all know what he is capable of. And if this was him then there is more to come, I will bet my life on it. I never told you this, but I was never convinced of his act of heroism in India.”

“Oh mum, I don’t know about that. I mean, Chandon was the one who found Ajay. We know that to be a fact!”

“Do we though, Jess? Chandon was desperate remember, and I believe he would have done anything to remove the shackles that we tied him with.”

“So what are you saying, mum?”

“I am saying that I think Chandon had something to do with the explosion at the family’s restaurant in India and nothing will convince me otherwise.”

“No way! Chandon really does love Ajay. Even he is not capable of that. No, I cannot indulge you in that theory. Sorry, but that just sounds ludicrous to me. Liam’s attack yes, but Ajay’s near-death – never.”

“Jess, I have to go now, Pete and I have an appointment. I will check in with you later. Like I said, just be careful.” Carla rang off, leaving Jessie stood in the hospital car park with her thoughts.

Her mum’s words tore through her mind like a tornado. Shaking her head, she walked back into the hospital.

Unforseen

Fate once again displays its cruel hand in the lives of Ajay and Jessie, removing the bottom from their world entirely and leaving them enveloped in despair.

Chandon has one thing on his mind: revenge. Ajay believes that Chandon has changed and is remorseful. However, Jessie knows otherwise and senses danger is coming their way. She knows their future is one shrouded in uncertainty.

But convincing Ajay that Chandon is harbouring deep-rooted ill feelings for them is proving challenging and potentially threatens their relationship and the lives of those around them.
